A fun and informative Have fun with print and build confidence in your own creativity. Discover the endless possibilities of this accessible, simple, exciting technique!

What to Expect

Over the 2 day weekend course, Ben will teach you how to create a professional-quality 2-colour edition, guiding you step by step through each process. You can expect to take home at least five 2-colour screen prints of your own design. You will practice the photo-stencilling technique and learn how to prepare your artwork for the medium of screen printing.

I’ll talk you through all the equipment we’ll be using and will teach you how to coat your screens with light-sensitive photo-emulsion, expose and wash them out ready for printing. You will learn about registering artwork and colours, how to print using water-based inks and how to blast out your screens. I guarantee you will come away feeling fired-up and ready for your next edition!

What to Bring

Ideally bring a laptop with your digital artwork as a 2 layer design in either Photoshop, Illustrator or Indesign. Otherwise bring a few photographs on a memory stick or some hand drawn sketches no bigger than A4 size. It’s also OK for you to come along with nothing at all—I can provide pens and pencils and give you access to a bank of my own previous film separations which you can cut up and collage with.

I will provide test paper plus x 5 sheets of premium quality white art paper measuring 35 x 50cm. You may want to bring some extra paper or card along for your final prints no smaller than this size - coloured and patterned paper can produce great results.

What to Wear

Being a working screen printing studio it’s an inky environment therefore I would advise against wearing your Sunday best however aprons are provided.

Eating & Drinking

Tea, coffee and lovely homemade cake is provided. Bring a packed lunch or there is a cracking little cafe on site just a few metres from my studio and Kendal town centre is only 2 minutes walk away.

In addition to a cafe, my studio is also sandwiched by 2 of the best pubs in Kendal (I know it’s a hard life) so if you fancy a drink afterwards to admire your masterpiece!…

Cancellations & Refunds

I only refund cancellations with 14 working days notice of the workshop date. If a last minute cancellation occurs I will try my best to fill your space however please understand I can only refund you if another booking is made. If you fail to turn up to a workshop you will not be refunded for that space. If Ben is obliged to cancel the course, he will issue a full refund.

Please note that Participants must be at least 18 years old to enroll on this course.
